How to visit Sohoton Cove from Siargao!

Hidden in the Bucas Grande Islands of Surigao del Norte, Philippines, Sohoton Cove is a secret paradise offering a magical escape into nature. With clear waters, fascinating caves, and rich marine life, this stunning spot is perfect for adventure lovers and nature fans. This guide will give you all the details you need for your visit to Sohoton Cove.

1. Best time to visit 🌞

The best time to visit Sohoton Cove is during the dry season, from March to October. During this time, the weather is ideal for exploring the caves and swimming in the lagoons. The peak tourist months are from April to June, so visiting slightly before or after this period can help you avoid larger crowds.

2. How to get there 🚣‍♀️

Sohoton Cove is located about 2-3 hours by boat from Siargao Island, making it an excellent day trip for those staying in Siargao. The best option is to join a guided tour or rent a private boat from General Luna.

3. How to organize your tour?

By Private Boat

You can rent a private boat from one of the shops in General Luna. This option lets you explore at your own pace. The cost of hiring a private boat to visit Sohoton Cove and go island hopping is around 4000 PHP (70 EUR) for up to 6 people. If you’re in a group, this is a great deal.

There’s also an entrance fee to Sohoton Cove, about 800 PHP (14 EUR) per person. This includes the entrance, environmental fee, safety gear, permit, and boat fee.

By Organized Tour

You can join an organized tour with 20 or more tourists. It’s cheaper, but you’ll be on a set schedule and won’t have the place to yourself. The price for an organized tour to Sohoton Cove and island hopping in Siargao is around 2000 PHP (35 EUR) per person, including entry fees and lunch.

If you prefer to do these tours separately on different days, that’s possible too:

  • A boat to visit only Sohoton Cove costs around 3000 PHP (52 EUR).
  • A boat for the three islands costs about 1500 PHP (26 EUR).

Renting a private boat has its perks, but keep in mind that lunch (around 200 PHP per person) and entry fees for each island (around 20 PHP) plus the Sohoton Cove fee are not included in the boat price. We always choose the private boat because we prefer not to wait for large groups. The best approach is to find another couple with the same plan and share the boat cost.
